Popular Science Reading Workshop – Urban Microclimate

To promote science reading to a wider audience, Science Promotion Unit has launched the Popular Science Reading Workshop since 2022, in which local science writers are invited to share their popular science books and provide interesting activities for participants to explore science through the books.

Urban Microclimate

Mr. Tony Leung Wing Kin, a popular science writer, will introduce his book in the workshop. Through outdoor eco-tour and microclimate data collection, participants can learn more about ecology in the city, and explore the causes, consequences, as well as solutions in addressing urban heat island effect.

Important notes:
1. The outdoor eco-tour will be held at the Upper Piazza and Lower Piazza of Hong Kong Science Museum and the park behind the Hong Kong Museum of History.
2. Participants should check the weather on the event date and wear suitable outdoor clothing and sports shoes. In addition, participants may bring along sunscreen, insect repellent, windbreakers, drinking water, and rain gears, etc.
3. Parents shall ensure the safety of their children, and remind them not to touch any plants.
4. During the outdoor eco-tour, participants should follow the instructions of the staff and should not leave the group on their own. If you feel uncomfortable, please notify the staff.
